Have you watched Netflix's latest hit drama, Maid?

"Before they hit you, they hit near you"

Based on Stephanie Land’s 2019 memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive, the show follows a young mother named Alex as she leaves her abusive boyfriend and father to her two-year-old daughter, Maddy, to build a better life for her, with little to no resources. Alex's journey depicts the highs and intense lows as she deals with the difficult welfare system and so much more.

The episodes show that Domestic Violence abuse is more than just physical as most people believe. It does an amazing job of showing the emotional & psychological abuse (yelling, threats, manipulation, coercion, isolation, depression), the financial abuse, litigation abuse, digital abuse and all of the different ways a person can be abused without experiencing one bruise. It shows why it can be so hard to leave the abuser and why it takes the average victim 7 times to leave their abuser.

As Alex begins her healing journey from the abuse, she begins to imagine a new life for herself and Maddy.

This show is going to impact so many people and is a must watch!
