Freedom – there are several definitions for the word Freedom.
But for survivors of domestic abuse, it is difficult to actually feel true freedom even after we’ve left the abusive situation. Creating our freedom can only be done without self-judgment, self-blame, and self-criticism. Freedom is realized when we are committed to falling in love with ourselves, to owning our story, and living our truth.
It has been a long road to Freedom in my story but now this chapter has come to a close. As I sat outside a hotel 287 miles away from my home, I looked up and saw the flag in the video above flying in the wind with the light behind it. It was the biggest sign I could have received from the Universe. I shouted “I’m Finally Free!!”
Remember, our story isn’t over, we get to write the ending.
