In a recent post, I talked about PTSD and Domestic Abuse. One of the ways to navigate the recovery process from Domestic Abuse and PTSD is finding a creative outlet. I mentioned in my post that for me, working with photos and videos is a way for me to control the triggers that occur. This past week, my husband was unexpectedly hospitalized for almost a week. He is home recovering now, thankfully! I really struggled being at the hospital by his side. Not because I didn't want to be with him, but because hospitals are a trigger for me. For those who know my story, you will understand this trigger and know how far back it goes for me.
While scrolling aimlessly on my phone, I came across this poem, I Got Flowers Today and it stopped me in my tracks. While sitting in the hospital as my husband was sleeping, I began creating the video below. I think it is a powerful video that gives a 2 minute and 46 second view of Domestic Violence. It may be hard to watch, you may cry (I did), you may look away, and it may be a trigger for some.
I started Livin' the Visions and became a certified DV Recovery Coach with a mission to Educate, Empower and help women Envision a life without abuse. Please share this video. You may reach someone that is thinking about leaving an abusive situation and this might be the thing that makes them have the courage to Break the Cycle before it's too late.
